Overview
This is an online course required for all automotive majors. It is designed to introduce students to some of the foundational principles and knowledge required to be successful in other automotive courses.

Course Outcomes
- Learn recommended and safe practices for working on or around an automobile.
- Learn to locate and use service information and specifications for an automobile.
- Understand the basic purpose and operation of major vehicle systems and components.
- Understand the benefits of performing recommended inspections and maintenance.
- Know how to develop a repeatable diagnostic strategy.
- Be aware of various career opportunities in the automotive industry.

Learning Model
You will prepare each week by first testing yourself on any prior knowledge you have (doesn't count toward final grade). You will also prepare by reading and studying the presentations. You will teach one another by discussing the readings and leaving at least five comments in Perusall. You will prove what you have learned by taking a test at the end of the week, as well as report on your teaching activity.
Expectations
Workload
Since this is a one-credit class, you can expect to spend up to 3 hours each week working on this class.
Group Work
There is no group work in this class; however, the weekly Study activities are part of a class-wide discussion using Perusall.
Late Work
As a sign of professionalism and respect, you should complete your work on time. However, your instructor has the discretion to accept late work or extend due dates as appropriate.
