Overview

This two-credit course is designed to give students practical hands-on experience of health promotion skills that a health promotion educator will use.
Note: This course code has changed from HS 401 to PUBH 401. You may occasionally see references to the old course code or title.

This course uses instructional materials that are placed in the introduction pages of each week. These materials are free to use.

Structure

Course Outcomes (CO)

  1. Develop community partnerships to impact health. 
  2. Illustrate effective leadership skills in public health practice.
  3. Describe the role a health education specialist plays in the community.
  4. Demonstrate various community health assessments.
  5. Explain how health policy impacts health outcomes.

Weekly Patterns

Expectations

Workload

Students should expect to work six to eight hours per week.

Group Work

Students will do all of the discussion boards in groups.

Late Work

As a sign of professionalism and respect, you should complete your work on time. However, your instructor has the discretion to accept late work or extend due dates as appropriate.
