CIT 241 - Network Design


Description

This course focuses on initial router configuration, Cisco IOS Software management, routing protocol configuration, TCP/IP, and access control lists (ACLs). Students will develop skills on configuring a router, managing Cisco IOS Software, configuring routing protocol on routers, and setting the access lists to control the access to routers.

Course Outcomes

  1. Understand, configure, verify, and troubleshoot LAN Switching Technologies (VLAN, STP, EtherChannel)
  2. Understand, configure, verify, and troubleshoot Routing Technologies (Inter-VLAN, OSPF, EIGRP over IPv4 and IPv6)
  3. Understand, configure, verify, and troubleshoot WAN Technologies (PPP, MLPPP, PPoE, GRE tunnel, access connectivity such as MPLS, WAN topologies, eBGP)
  4. Understand, describe, configure, verify, and troubleshoot Infrastructure Services (HSRP, cloud resources, QoS, ACL for IPv4 and IPv6)
  5. Understand, describe, configure, verify, and troubleshoot Infrastructure Maintenance technologies (SNMP, IP SLA, local SPAN, AAA with TACACS+/RADIUS, network programmability)

Assigned topics are given for each activity. Students must explain what they have learned by conducting independent research, synthesizing ideas from several sources, and posting their thoughts in their own words.
