Online Interview Assignment (Due in Lesson 13)

Online Interview Assignment Requirements

Conduct an online interview with a professional nurse who has had a legal or ethical dilemma or a risk management issue concerning the nursing profession.

  1. Interview: The questions may be sent all at once (be certain all questions about the experience are addressed) or one at a time, whichever works best for you and your interviewee. This nurse may be someone at your workplace, a friend of a friend, or just an acquaintance. Get their permission to do the interview online. After the interview, simply copy it onto a document and place it after your Reflection paper, which will be about the interview. Do not mention identity-revealing details about the situation (like names or places).
    1. Perhaps some pertinent questions you could ask are:
      • What happened, why?
      • What was the outcome?
      • What/how could have been done differently?
      • What would they suggest for the future?
    2. Please include feelings and insights of the interviewee. This interview must be done online for full points and then copied into the reflective paper as described below.
  2. Reflective paper: Write a one page reflective journal about the online interview including title page but NO reference page or levels of heading. The learner needs to include a reflection about what was said, actions taken, concepts of ethics and/or legalities utilized. More importantly, reflect on how this knowledge can be applied in the learner's particular setting or nursing in general. Do not reiterate the situation (this will result in points taken off), just reflect on it.
  3. Compile all parts into one Reflection paper document, to include the following sections in order.
    • Title Page
    • Reflection
    • Interview Questions and Answers

Grading for the Online Interview assignment will be based on all parts of this assignment being present and laid out as described above.
