The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is reaching its members through two special broadcasts during January and February.
The first of these broadcasts took place on Saturday.
Priesthood leaders, including bishoprics, stake presidencies and high councilors were invited to the three-hour meeting which took place in Salt Lake City at the Church office building.
According to the Deseret News, the meeting was held as a training forum.
The broadcast focused around topics such as the importance of family and temples, as well as the Churchs organization.
The decision to use a broadcast to train priesthood leaders is a major step for the Church, a Church official said.
President Gordon B. Hinckley, as well as the other members of the quorum of the Twelve Apostles, conducted the training.
The First Presidency plans to hold another training meeting in June.
Another special broadcast will take place for primary children Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. in the Conference Center. All primary children, their parents and their primary leaders are invited to attend the conference.
The theme of the conference will be Ill Follow Him in Faith.
The length of the meeting is expected to be an hour. Though the program will take place in the Conference Center, it will be transmitted to stake centers.
Speakers will be members of the General Primary presidency as well as a member of the First Presidency.
The conference is being held in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Primary organization.
The broadcast will not be available on the Internet.
In addition to these special broadcasts, other Church broadcasts that will be held in the near future include the Church Educational System monthly fireside.
The next CES broadcast will be Feb. 2, with a broadcast on March 2 as well.
On March 29, there will be a broadcast for all young women, ages 12-18.
All mothers and Young Women leaders are invited as well.
The theme of the meeting will be Be Steadfast in Christ.
