Talented seems to be the word of choice for many who have seen the Lowe family perform.
As part of Center Stage, the Lowe family will be performing on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Kirkham Auditorium.
Classical, Broadway, 20s, 40s, 60s, jazz, Irish, dance, bluegrass and gospel music are part of what the Lowe family will bring to campus.
The Lowes, who lived for many years in Provo, Utah, began performing as a family about twenty-years ago and moved to Branson, Mo., in 1999 to further their entertainment careers, according to a BYU-Idaho press release. The family of nine now performs at the Performing Arts Center in Branson for nine months of the year.
From very young ages these seven children began studying and performing the music of the masters with the oldest three arising at 4:30 a.m. to practice, Julie Kilmer of the Branson Tri-Lakes Daily News, said.
Individually they have distinguished themselves from Russia to the Kennedy Center and have given select concerts in Europe, Central and South America, and Canada. The Lowe Family has also represented the U.S. in China for the International Childrens Festival, according to the Lowe family Web site.
The Lowes were chosen to perform for Center Stage for several reasons.
I thought they would have real strong appeal with our students. Most [of the family members] are in their late teens and 20s, [the] same age as the students. I also felt they would have strong appeal with the community, employees and families, Sparhawk said.
The Lowes came to the campus in 1995, and were very popular Sparhawk said.
[Weve] had several requests from people to bring them back, Sparhawk said. I think it will be highly entertaining, really fast-paced. There may be a few classical songs, but the main part of the show is very fast-paced, lively [and] fun.
The pre-show Southern Dinner tickets are sold-out. Tickets for the Concert are still available.
