BYU-Is ice rink open to students
The newly built ice-skating rink on the intramural fields opens today at a ribbon-cutting ceremony following devotional at 3:30 p.m. President and Sister Bednar will cut the ribbon that will open the rink to BYU-Idaho students.
The school has purchased 300 pairs of ice skates for rental. The lights on the intramural field illuminate the rink, as it is open into the evening hours daily, except Sundays. Music is also played over loudspeakers during skating hours.
The opening of the rink is a part of the physical portion of the new activities program. One major goal for the new program is to prepare students for the future.
I hope that this is another option that will prepare every father and mother to teach their kids to enjoy outdoor activities and bless their homes, Devin Shaum, BYU-I activities director, said.
Free lessons will be taught by students at the rink.
