To build the survey, you need to tell it which students are in which groups.
To do this, you need to upload a file in the following format:
Header line:
Student Name, E-mail, Group number
Then a list of student information lines:
"StudentLast, StudentFirst", Student email address, Group Number
An example file would look like:
Student Name, E-mail, Group number
"Generic, Stu",gen16001@byui.edu,3
"Nonymous, Ann",non15014@byui.edu,2
(Here's an example you can download)
An easy way to make one of these files is to do the following:
Step 1: Go to the "Pictoral Class List" page for your section.
Step 2: "Under Display name as:" you should select "Last, Preferred". Under "Display Options" only "E-mail address" should be selected. (Deselect all others.)
Step 3: Click Export to CSV
Step 4 (Option 1): Open the csv file in excel and write each student's group number into the cell after their email, then click save. (Let it save as a .csv file, not in excel format.)
Step 4 (Option 2): Open the file in any plain text editor. Write a comma then each student's group number at the end of each row.
Upload the .qsf file that you downloaded to Qualtrics. (Instructions here)
Generate an anonymous link (Instructions here)
Add
?email={ExternalEmail}&SurveyStudent={LastName}%2C%20{FirstName}to the end of the survey link, or use this link generator to do it for you:
Once you have the url, create a new link in I-learn 3.0. (Content > New > Create a link) Make sure you create a new link. Do not just put the link into a content page or file, otherwise Qualtrics will have no idea which students are using the link.
Name the link whatever you want, then paste your survey url into the url box. Make sure "Open as External Resource" is not checked.
You are all set. The students can now fill out their group evaluations.
You can access the individual responses to your group evaluations under Data & Analysis, but all of the information you need can be found in reports: A table of each students evaluation score, the names of everyone who filled out an evaluation, and the comments they recieved.
You can even print out the comments recieved (one page per student) by choosing Report Options > Export Report > PDF Document
