Readings/Videos/PowerPoints

Due by MidWeek, see Calendar

Readings, videos, and PowerPoint presentations form the first level of learning in this course. These activities will provide the foundation for each lesson and will be the basis of your weekly group discussions, one-liners, and reflections. Taking the time to really become prepared with this information at the beginning of the week will help you in all your other course activities.

Expectations

  1. Reading: For each reading, you are required to write annotations (i.e. a written glossary of key points, add footnotes to, interpret, explain, add explanatory notes, or comment on concepts you read, etc.) either on a printed copy of the reading or on a separate sheet of paper (including the page number and paragraph). Your annotations/notes should include concepts that can be clearly defined, understood, and assessed by others. These annotations will not be turned in but will provide you with helpful thoughts as you complete the lesson activities. An example of an annotated text is attached below ("The Great Commandment - annotations). In addition, you are required to complete the Accountability Quiz and grade yourself on how much you read and how well you annotated the text. You will receive 5 points for proper preparation.
  2. Videos/PowerPoints: For each video or PowerPoint, you are required to document four insights you have as you view them. Some videos are free standing and others are embedded in slide shows. Similar to the annotations, these insights will not be turned in, but preparation will be documented in the Accountability Quiz. In this quiz, you will grade yourself on how much you viewed and how well you documented your insights. You will receive 5 points for documenting true insights. (The Accountability Quiz will be 10 points total.)
  3. The accountability quizzes are self-assessed. Remembering the university honor code and your personal integrity, please be honest in all your reporting.
